This is a Mercedes Benz 300SD Turbo Diesel (W116 1977-80).  Contrary to commonplace V8 motors expected in these cars today, this one is somewhat unique.  It features an inline 5 cylinder with the first application of a turbocharger mated to a diesel motor.  

It’s my opinion that the W116 is one of the nicest bodystyles of any S-Class. Even with its DOT regulated parts it still manages to look elegant.  This one is well loved and I hope its bulletproof motor keeps it going for a long time.

Don’t see these every day.  Second Generation Chevrolet LUV (1980-82…but continued to live on as the Isuzu P’Up) Diesel in SE Portland. The first LUV was great, the second one, not so much….quickly phased out by the lackluster S10.  I think my favorite part about this truck is that it had a whopping 58 horsepower.   High-res
