Mitsubishi Delica Super Exceed (Third generation, 1991)

This is Leo’s Delica, a JDM import into Canada, where it can be legally registered. It’s left hand drive as well as selectable 4WD, making it pretty much one of the coolest vehicles you can own. The name is a combination of the words “delivery” and “car” as it’s roots were in small commercial van use, but the ’90s SUV craze brought about it’s popularity as an offroad passenger vehicle.

He let me take a peek inside and along with being loaded to the windows with climbing gear it didn’t fail to impress. A quick flick of a switch on the instrument panel retracts or closes all four sunshades on the “Crystal Lite Roof.”

As they headed down the mountain and I got a nice look at it crawling through a deep mud puddle I realized that you always want what you can’t have. Maybe in 3 or 4 years I’ll start looking to import.

Seen on Mt. Hood, Ore.
